Hate loosing service in awkward spots? But the person next to you has service?

I was thinking of an interesting way to not only help cellphone service providers advertise their own network, but also to please the customers (us).

The idea would be that newer phones which can choose network or carrier, such as an unlocked iPhone or blackberry-That when your default service provider is not available, you would then connect to the carrier with the best service.

While connected to the opposing cell-phone provider, you would hear a 15-30 second advertisement before placing a call, and possibly at the bottom of received texts to include an advertisement for the provider.

This would remove ‘dead’ spots and annoying periods of lost service-provide free advertising for networks which are available in areas that your current provider is not.

Simply you could ‘register’ or your provider ‘registers’ your phone number with basic information such as name and address, and all additional charges would be simply forwarded to your provider.

Example situation: You’re driving along, lose service to your provider T-Mobile-and instead of loosing service for 30 minutes or until you are back in service area, your phone switches to AT&T. Now you make a call to your buddy, the call starts under AT&T and plays a 30 second advert talking about how great AT&T Service is in this area etc
